National Honor Guard Commander ________________________________________
The Correctional Peace Officers (CPO) Foundation PROJECT XIX four-day event will take place in San Francisco, California, Thursday - Sunday, June 12 - 15, 2008.
The Annual National Memorial Service honoring our fellow Officers from around the Nation that were killed in the line of duty will take place on Friday, June 13, 2008, at 1000 hours. Correctional staff from all 50 states will march in ceremonial formation as a united group displaying their individual State flags in honor of our fallen Officers.
All Honor Guards or any Correctional staff who wish to participate in the Memorial ceremony on Friday, June 13, 2008, are to register with the CPOF Honor Guard Registration desk located in the Project 2000 XIX host hotel. Honor Guard Registration will be on Thursday, June 12, 2008, between the hours of 0900 to 1300. Memorial Service practice will be from 1400 to 1700 on Thursday, June 12, 2008. This time will be utilized for position assignment and practice for the Memorial ceremony. Casual clothing is permitted for the day of practice; however, for the day of the ceremony Honor Guard uniform or Department Class "A" uniform is required.
As your National Honor Guard Commander for the CPO Foundation, I know how important the participation of staff and/or Honor Guard is to this unforgettable and very worthwhile event. I urge you and your staff to attend, and I assure you that participation instills pride and renewed dedication to our profession. As in years past, the strong participation of individual Correctional Institutions will greatly enhance the PROJECT 2000 XIX Memorial Service and significantly impact its outcome.
To participate in the Project 2000 XIX Memorial Service Honor Guard please request an Honor Guard Registration Form from Rachel Lee at the headquarters of the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation in Sacramento, California. Her email address is: rachel@cpof.org. Rachel can also answer any questions you may have and provide you with more information, if needed.
