Jail Supervisor Leon Egley Randolph County Sheriffs Department, Missouri, Missouri Randolph County Sheriffs Department, Missouri Jail Supervisor Leon Egley and his colleague, Deputy Sheriff Jason Acton, were killed on June 22, 2000 during an attempted jail break at the rural Randolph County Jail. Both men were fatally shot by two individuals trying to free an incarcerated friend. Following departmental regulations, neither Deputy Acton nor Jail Supervisor Egley was armed while in the jail. Supervisor Egley graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from Moberly Community College’s Law Enforcement Academy. He was 33 at the time of his death and had worked for the Rahdolph County Sheriffs Department for three years. Supervisor Egley spent most of his free time involved in community activities. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 30 AF & AM and he had served on the City Council in Huntsville, Missouri. Supervisor Egley is survived by his mother, Doreen Little; and his four brothers, Glen, Darryl, Ernest and Dan, and their spouses.
