Youth Development Worker Eugene Rockett Youth Detention Center in Savannah, Georgia Georgia Department of Corrections Youth Development Worker Eugene Rockett died in the line of duty on March 31, 1993 of cardiac arrest resulting from an altercation with two juvenile offenders at the Youth Detention Center in Savannah. Youth Development Worker Rockett, 49, was struck several times, fell, hit his head against the wall, metal room door and concrete floor, and suffered a fatal heart attack. Youth Development Worker Rockett had served his Department for seven years. He is survived by his wife Marion and three adult children.
