Correctional Captain Stanley Rhem

City of New York Department of Correction Correctional Captain Stanley Rhem was shot in the chest and killed on June 10, 1991 while chasing two armed muggers who had attempted to rob a friend of Captain Rhem’s and had shot the friend in the leg. Captain Rhem spent four years in the Air Force. He began his career with the City of New York Department of Correction in 1973 and was promoted to Captain in 1985. He was 43 at the time of his death. Captain Rhem is survived by his wife Brenda, daughter Latoya, son Lamont, and his mother and sister.
