Correctional Officer Daniel Nagle McConnell Unit, Texas Texas Department of Criminal Justice-ID Correctional Officer Daniel Nagle of McConnell Unit, Beeville, Texas was stabbed and killed by an inmate on December 17, 1999. The attack is believed to have been in retaliation for a disciplinary report being written against the inmate. Officer Nagle was stabbed three times and suffered a fatal heart attack during the assault. He was 37 years old and had been with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for three years. Officer Nagle was the President of his local chapter of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). Officer Nagle is survived by his wife, Crystal; their three children, Johnathon, Michael and Rebecca; his father, Michael Nagle; and two brothers
