Correctional Officer Frank Mydlarz Great Meadow Correctional Facility, Comstock, New York New York State Department of Correctional Services Correctional Officer Frank Mydlarz of Great Meadow Correctional Facility, Comstock, New York died from a massive heart attack on August 1, 1999 while responding to an alarm to break up an inmate altercation. He was 47 years old and his career began in Corrections in 1981. Prior to serving the state he served his country in Vietnam and was discharged from the military in 1974. Officer Mydlarz was a unique individual who was respected by his peers and described as being a firm but consistent person who would literally give a person "the shirt off his back." He took exceptional pride in his daughters; in gardening and cooking; and was an avid hockey fan. Officer Mydlarz is survived by his two daughters, Melissa Cellotti and her husband, Seth, and Erica Sadowski and her husband Dan; and his grandson, Cole Gaddor.
