Correctional Officer Arturo Meyers Department of Corrections, New York City of New York Department of Correction Correction Officer Arturo Meyers was killed on June 17, 1993 at the age of 42. Officer Meyers sustained a fatal gunshot wound in the back when he intervened in a street altercation. Officer Meyers had served his Department for over 19 years and was six months from retirement at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife Arlene and daughter Katrina.
