Deputy Sheriff Sandy Larson Sacramento Sheriff's Department, California Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Deputy Sheriff Sandy Larson of Sacramento, California was killed on December 8, 1998 while transporting inmates from Soledad State Prison. The departmental vehicle of Deputy Larson and her partner, Deputy Sheriff Susan Rosenberg, struck the rear of a tractor trailer that was broken down on the shoulder of a freeway merge area. Deputy Larson was 48 years old. She is survived by her husband, Deputy Sheriff Robert Larson; their daughter, Teresa, and son, Mark; and Sandy’s brother, Lt. Bill Powell, who is also with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
