Correctional Officer Francisco Garza Dominguez State Jail, San Antonio, Texas Texas Department of Criminal Justice-ID Correctional Officer Francisco Garza of Dominguez State Jail, San Antonio,Texas was killed while driving to In-Service Training on May 31, 1999. His vehicle was hit when the driver of an on-coming car crossed the center divide. Officer Garza's vehicle rolled and he died from his injuries. He was 49 years old and had been with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice since 1992. Prior to his employment in Texas he had been a Correctional Officer at Folsom State Prison in Represa, California for seven years. Officer Garza was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had been stationed in Germany. He cherished his family and the time they spent together. Officer Garza is survived by his wife, Juanita; and their three children, Gilbert, Geraldo and Selena. He is also survived by his mother, Susie Garza; his sister, Irma Dapkewicz and her husband, Frank; and a large extended family.
