Correctional Officer Walter Fulford Georgia Department of Corrections, Georgia Georgia Department of Corrections Correctional Officer Walter Fulford died in the line of duty on January 24, 1990. While supervising an inmate work crew, Officer Fulford, 56, was accidentally run over and killed by a road grader. It is believed that the road grader malfunctioned because of hydraulic system problems. Officer Fulford is survived by his wife Virginia and four adult children.
