Parole Officer Sharyn Dover New York Division of Parole, New York New York State Department of Correctional Services Division of Parole. Parole Officer Sharyn Dover was killed while returning from firearms range training on October 13, 1999. Her vehicle hit a guard rail on the freeway, flipped over and burst into flames. Officer Dover was ejected and died from her injuries. She was 51 years old and had started work as a Parole Officer in 1983. Prior to entering Correctional Services she taught at many schools in the Buffalo area and served as a YWCA counselor on weekends for middle school teenage girls. Officer Dover was a Narcotics Correction Counselor and was awarded numerous commendations during her career. She was a warm, caring person and is described as having “exceptional love of God and family.” Officer Dover is survived by her husband of almost nine years, Harry; her father, William DeBose; her sisters, Barbara and Kelly; and a large extended family.
