Correctional Sergeant Jim Dimanoff Gatesville Unit TDCJ, Texas Sergeant (retired) Jim Dimanoff died after falling from a guard tower (picket) at Mountain View Prison, Texas Dept. of Corrections, Gatesville, Texas on October 13, 1997. Jim retired from the Army after 22 years including two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was proudest of his duties as a "tunnel rat" when, armed only with a flashlight and a .45 caliber pistol, he crawled through Vietcong tunnels searching for the enemy. Jim retired from the Army in 1988. He was an avid golfer and a friend to all that knew him. He is survived by two sons. Jim's wife Ruth Ann preceded him in death on January 10, 1997.
