Correctional Officer Leslie Becsi Sandhills Youth Center, North Carolina North Carolina Department of Correction Correction Officer Leslie Becsi was murdered on June 28, 1992 by two youth offenders who had been inmates at Sandhills Youth Center, where Officer Becsi worked. The perpetrators broke into Officer Becsi’s house, waited in the kitchen for Officer Becsi to come home from work, and beat him to death with a baseball bat. The murder had been planned for weeks. Officer Becsi was 58 and a retired Army Master Sergeant. He is survived by his adult sons Zsolt and Andor, brother Timor and sister Mary Baldy.
