Transportation Officer William Bishop Fayette County Sheriff's, Tennessee Tennessee Deputy Sheriff Transportation Officer William Bishop Fayette County Sheriff's Department in Somerville, Tennessee was shot and killed on May 2, 1997 by an inmate with a concealed weapon when the inmate tried to escape from the dentist’s office where he was being treated. Deputy Sheriff Transportation Officer Bishop was 43 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by daughters Renee and Mechille, brother Timmy, and parents Morris and Ruth.
