Correctional Officer Fred Baker Bayside State Prison, New Jersey Senior Correctional Officer Fred Baker was murdered on July 30, 1997. Officer Baker was guarding one of the main housing units when he was stabbed in the back by an inmate and killed. Officer Baker was a 10 year veteran of the New Jersey Department of Corrections and was active in numerous law enforcement organizations. He is survived by his wife Kelly; son Jason; daughter Dara; parents Arlene and Fred; sisters; Cindy Numbers and Kelliann Hawk; and a large extended family.
