Correctional Officer Gary Rowe Metropolitan Correctional Center San Diego, California Correctional Officer Gary Rowe discovered an escape attempt taking place and tried to intervene. He was assaulted by a group of inmates and beaten repeatedly. He died on 2/7/83 from massive head injuries without regaining consciousness. he is survived by his son Gary Rowe Jr., and his daughter Lisa Rowe Schroeder.
