Leslie Macarro Youth Training School, Chino, California On May 20, 1988 Group Supervisor Leslie Martin Macarro and another correctional employee from the Youth Training School escorted three inmates to the Los Angeles Medical Center for treatment. As they attempted to make their departure, one of the inmates bolted to escape while in full restraints. Supervisor Macarro began a foot pursuit and was struck by a moving vehicle driven by a civilian hospital employee. Supervisor Macarro died an hour later from his injuries. Group Supervisor Macarro is survived by his wife Martha Macarro, sons Mark, Paul, John and daughter Carrie.
