Correctional Officer Lawrence Kush Statesville Correctional Center, Illinios Illinois Department of Corrections Correctional Officer Lawrence Kush was beaten to death on July 1, 1989 by an inmate at Statesville Correctional Center in Joliet. As guests of the CPO Foundation, Officer Kush’s young widow Deanna and their little girls Hanna and Candice attended Project 2000 II in 1991 at which Memorial Service Officer Kush was honored.
