George Klimpel Nassau County Sheriff's Department, New York Officer Klimpel and Officer Maureen Callanan were killed when they lost control of their prisoner transport vehicle on an icy road and struck a dump truck. Officer Klimpel and Officer Callanan were transporting prisoners from Albian, New York, back to the Nassau County Jail when they lost control of their vehicle on Route 80, about 30 miles east of Buffalo.
